Position Summary

Seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead, coordinate, and oversee HVAC service operations across all assigned projects and client locations. This role is responsible for supervising field technicians, managing daily workflow, ensuring job quality, maintaining regulatory compliance, and optimizing operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, technical expertise in HVAC systems, and a proactive, solutions-driven approach to maintenance management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and oversee all HVAC service, repair, and maintenance activities.
  • Supervise and support HVAC technicians in the field, ensuring work is completed to company and code standards.
  • Evaluate team performance, provide technical guidance, and conduct on-the-job training where needed.
  • Inspect work sites and service calls to ensure quality control, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance programs and respond promptly to service emergencies or urgent repair needs.
  • Ensure compliance with local and state codes, OSHA regulations, and Green Mechanical safety policies.
  • Oversee inventory and proper use of tools, materials, and vehicles.
  • Assist with complex diagnostics and technical problem-solving as required.
  • Communicate directly with clients regarding service scheduling, project updates, and resolution of issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of service calls, technician logs, labor hours, materials, and job costs.
  • Review technician documentation, verify work orders, and support administrative reporting and invoicing.
  • Recommend staffing adjustments, participate in hiring decisions, and contribute to overall team development.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, safety, and continuous improvement.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, and maintenance best practices
  • Strong understanding of mechanical codes, electrical systems, building regulations, and safety protocols
  • Proven leadership and team management experience in a technical field
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and advise on HVAC equipment and system failures
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with maintenance management software and digital reporting tools
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and service manuals
  • Strong focus on customer service and job quality assurance

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical training preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of HVAC service experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead technician role
  • Valid New York State driver’s license required
  • OSHA 30 and Site Safety Training (SST) cards strongly preferred

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

  • Ability to visit job sites, including rooftops and confined mechanical spaces
  • May involve lifting up to 75 lbs and working in varied weather conditions
  • Occasional after-hours or emergency response required
