Senior Events Director (LA Times Studios)

Join a team of creative, collaborative, and innovative professionals at LA Times Studios. We are seeking a Senior Events Director responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive events strategy that aligns with our business goals, enhances brand visibility, and engages audiences to drive revenue growth.

The role involves overseeing all event initiatives, including proprietary programs, experiential activations, trade shows, sponsored events, and executive engagements, ensuring high-impact experiences across all channels. The Senior Director manages internal teams and external vendors, working cross-functionally with marketing, editorial, sales, finance, and production departments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning, budgeting, and execution of all company events to support brand awareness, customer engagement, and lead generation.
  • Develop event strategies aligned with business objectives and audience engagement targets.
  • Identify and evaluate industry events and sponsorship opportunities, negotiating to optimize ROI.
  • Plan and execute custom experiences such as VIP programs, activations, and dinners.
  • Manage the full event lifecycle from planning to post-event follow-up.
  • Oversee logistics including venue sourcing, staffing, A/V, permits, and safety compliance.
  • Ensure operational excellence through cross-functional alignment and vendor coordination.
  • Standardize processes, develop SOPs, and implement scalable solutions.
  • Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and P&L management for events.
  • Analyze performance data to forecast costs, revenue, and ROI, providing regular reports to leadership.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to integrate events into broader campaigns.
  • Drive sales enablement and manage lead capture and follow-up processes.
  • Develop compelling event experiences and branded materials.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, sponsors, and media partners.
  • Hire, lead, and mentor the internal events team, fostering a collaborative culture.
  • Evaluate and improve event effectiveness using data and feedback.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and introduce innovative elements.
  • Implement event management platforms and tools to streamline operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or Event Management with 10+ years of experience, including 5+ years in leadership OR 12+ years of relevant experience with at least 5+ years in leadership.
  • Extensive experience planning large-scale events like trade shows, activations, and executive programs.
  • Deep understanding of event marketing, logistics, production workflows, and post-event engagement.
  • Proven leadership in managing budgets over $1M, vendor relationships, and ROI forecasting.
  • Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency in project management and event technology platforms such as Asana, Salesforce, Google Workspace, Cvent, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in media, tech, nonprofit, or agency sectors.
  • Strong industry network and knowledge of experiential marketing and sponsorships.

LA Times Studios is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion. The expected pay range for this role is $145,000 to $165,000, based on experience and qualifications.
