Job Description

A middle school social worker position is available to support students during a leave of absence in East Lansing, MI. This contract role focuses on providing crucial social-emotional support, addressing student needs, and collaborating with educators and families to foster a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
• Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to support students well-being.
• Serve as a liaison between students, families, school staff, and community resources.
• Facilitate group and individual counseling sessions.
• Advocate for students educational and mental health needs.
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of all services provided.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and strategies.

Desired Experience:

• Licensed Social Worker with credentials applicable to school settings.
• Previous experience working with middle school students in educational environments.
• Strong understanding of adolescent development and mental health issues.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, and community agencies.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and crisis intervention skills.
• Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices for school social work.
