Job Summary

The Grinding Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining grinding machines to produce precision parts and components that meet exact specifications. The Grinding Operator plays a key role in maintaining product quality, meeting production targets, and ensuring safe operation of equipment in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC grinding machines (OD, surface, and centerless) according to engineering drawings and process instructions
• Perform precision grinding operations on a variety of components, including hardened alloys, stainless steels, and aerospace-grade materials
• Verify conformance of finished parts to specifications using precision measuring instruments
• Maintain part quality and production rates within established tolerances
• Perform routine machine maintenance and ensure proper handling of tooling and fixtures
• Work independently to identify process improvements and troubleshoot grinding issues
• Train and mentor junior operators as needed

• CNC Grinding Machines

Core Competencies & Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 5+ years of grinding experience in a manufacturing or production environment
• Proven experience with CNC grinding equipment
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing blueprints, GD&T, and process documentation
• Proven experience using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and surface finish comparators
• Ability to setup and troubleshoot grinding machines independently

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a thermal spray coating environment
• Familiarity with Aerospace and defense materials (e.g., Inconel, Hastelloy, Stainless Steels)
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing

Physical Demands

• Stand, walk, bend, lift for extended periods of time
• Lift or move up to 50 pounds regularly
• Use hands and fingers to operate tools, machinery, and equipment
• Work in environment that may include exposure to noise, heat, dust or chemicals
• Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed
